SPEED AND COMPATIBILITY bleem!'s performance depends largely on your CPU, video and sound hardware, and the complexity of the games you're running, older PCs run very well with simpler titles, while recent, richly-textured games may require faster machines. While bleem! works with many games, it doesn't run ALL titles. Always check the compatibility list before buying new titles to play with bleem! ============================================================= 3. OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE ============================================================= bleem! emulates the functions of several dedicated processors working in parallel, all on your PC. As a result, you may be able to increase performance in various areas by reducing the load placed on your processor by certain non-game essential functions. The most important thing you can do to optimize bleem!'s speed and performance on any PC is to make sure you have the very latest drivers available. bleem! uses DirectX 6.0, so new drivers are essential for optimum performance. Be sure to read the next section on drivers for further information! To smooth sound playback during MDEC Movies, try setting the movie to black-and-white only. If sound is jerky or "drops out", reduce the sampling rate and the bit level until a more enjoyable level is attained. On systems with larger monitors, many users get much better performance operating in "full screen" mode. (The memory used by the background texture on your desktop is released for bleem!) IMPORTANT! bleem!'s performance with certain games can be greatly affected when using backup copies of your original game discs! Due to the various differences between backup discs and original discs, some movies and background music may stutter, skip or sound scratchy. For the best performance and compatibility with bleem!, we strongly recommend the use of original discs only! If your sound is stuttery, skipping or sounds scratchy, be sure to read the Tech Tips at the end of this document for help on configuring your system correctly! ============================================================= 4. HOW TO TELL IF YOU NEED TO INSTALL NEW DRIVERS ============================================================= In general, if our website lists a game as being compatible with bleem!, it should run on any system that meets our hardware requirements. Users who have experienced difficulties have generally been able to trace the problem back to outdated drivers for video, sound, or CDROM drives. If bleem! will not launch on your system, if many games that appear on our compatibility list do not run, or if sound and graphics are jerky, even on a fast system, you probably need new drivers. Drivers can be found at the following locations : Voodoo 1, Voodoo 2, Voodoo 3, Voodoo Rush, Vooodoo Banshee ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.3dfx.com TNT, TNT 2, Vanta ----------------- http://www.nvidia.com ATI Rage, Riva/Riva128 ---------------------- http://www.atitech.com S3 / Diamond Multimedia ----------------------- http://www.diamondmm.com Creative Labs ------------- http://www.creativelabs.com You can also find many other drivers at www.drivershq.com or www.winfiles.com in the driver section. For more information on drivers and where to find the most current versions, see the "help!" section on our website at www.bleem.com. If, after installing DirectX 6.0 (or later) and the most current drivers for your software, you are still experiencing problems, please visit http://www.bleem.com/support/ and we will respond as soon as possible. ============================================================= 5.
